Cutback RC 30
RC-30 is a rapid curing cutback made by blending bitumen with a light, fast-evaporating naphtha/gasoline-type solvent. The number gives its minimum kinematic viscosity at 60°C (30–60 mm²/s), so RC-30 is thin enough to penetrate and prime porous surfaces.

Where Cutback RC 30 is used
Cutback bitumen is bitumen blended with a petroleum solvent so it can be applied at low temperatures. Once laid, the solvent evaporates and leaves the binder behind. The solvent type sets the curing speed.
- 01Tack coats, quick-setting surface treatments and patching where traffic must return fast
- 02Priming of unbound granular bases before asphalt
- 03Cold-mix asphalt for maintenance and remote sites
- 04Projects without hot-mix plants or heating equipment
Conforms to ASTM D2028
Supplied to ASTM D2028. Tested for viscosity, flash point, water content, distillation profile and properties of the residue.

Storing Cutback RC 30

Temperature: Store and apply at the lowest temperature that gives a workable viscosity. Heating drives off solvent and raises fire risk.

Containers: Keep in closed, sealed tanks or drums to stop solvent evaporating, which changes the grade.

Fire safety: Cutbacks contain flammable solvent. Keep them away from open flames and sparks, earth the equipment, and keep fire extinguishers at hand.

Ventilation: Store in well-ventilated areas and avoid breathing vapours. Follow local rules on VOC emissions.
