Cutback MC 3000
MC-3000 is a medium curing cutback made by blending bitumen with a kerosene-type solvent. The number gives its minimum kinematic viscosity at 60°C (3000–6000 mm²/s), so MC-3000 is a heavier grade that holds more binder on the surface.

Where Cutback MC 3000 is used
Cutback bitumen is bitumen blended with a petroleum solvent so it can be applied at low temperatures. Once laid, the solvent evaporates and leaves the binder behind. The solvent type sets the curing speed.

Storing Cutback MC 3000

Temperature: Store and apply at the lowest temperature that gives a workable viscosity. Heating drives off solvent and raises fire risk.

Containers: Keep in closed, sealed tanks or drums to stop solvent evaporating, which changes the grade.

Fire safety: Cutbacks contain flammable solvent. Keep them away from open flames and sparks, earth the equipment, and keep fire extinguishers at hand.

Ventilation: Store in well-ventilated areas and avoid breathing vapours. Follow local rules on VOC emissions.
