Quality and compliance on every cargo
Every trade goes through the same checks: who we buy from, what is loaded, who we sell to and how payment is protected. Buyers can verify all of it.
How we protect product quality
- ✓Supplier qualification and approvalRefineries and terminals with verifiable operations and documents
- ✓Specification matchingEach offer quotes the grade and the standard it is tested to
- ✓Pre-shipment sampling and testingSamples drawn from shore tanks and vessel tanks
- ✓Independent third-party inspectionSGS, Intertek, Bureau Veritas or a buyer-appointed inspector
- ✓Certificate and document reviewQuality, quantity and origin certificates checked before release

Who we trade with, and how
KYC on every counterparty
Company registration, ownership and authorised signatories are verified for buyers and suppliers before contract.
Sanctions screening
Counterparties, vessels and cargo origin are screened against EU, UK, UN and US (OFAC) lists. We don't trade sanctioned products or origins.
Origin verification
Certificates of origin and loading documents are checked against the vessel's actual voyage and the supplier's records.
Anti-bribery
No commissions or payments to buyers' or suppliers' staff. All fees are disclosed in the contract.
Anti-money-laundering
Payments are only accepted from the contracting company's own bank account, and third-party payments are refused.
Trade-control screening
Products, destinations and end users are checked against export-control and dual-use rules before a contract is issued.
Health, safety & environment
Safety data sheets with every product, and handling guidance on every specification page.
Data protection
Buyer details are used only for the request they were sent for and are never shared with third parties.
How decisions are made
Every trade is approved against written policies, not individual discretion. Sales, operations and finance checks are kept separate, so no single person can approve a counterparty, a cargo and a payment on their own.

How to spot oil-trading fraud
Fraud is common in online oil trading. Whoever you buy from, walk away if you see any of these:
- ✓Fees before an offerRequests to pay for "documents", "procedures" or "registration" before you see a contract
- ✓Impossible pricesLarge discounts to Platts or Argus with no explanation
- ✓Unverifiable paperworkTank receipts, POP or "dip test" documents that the terminal won't confirm
- ✓Pressure to skip inspectionAny refusal to allow independent inspection at loading
At WGV Oil Trading, every offer names the product standard, Incoterm and inspection arrangement, and payment is only against shipping documents.
